Maggie (Magdalena) Vanoni
I became a journalist because I believe in the power of words to share stories, communicate ideas and discover life's curiosities. As a journalist, I'm eager to learn, researching every angle and creating an unique web of sources. Being trusted to tell someone’s story to the world is one of the most beautiful and empowering experiences.
Writing has always been a passion of mine, and sports have played an important role in my life, as well. In fact, I see sports reporting as a competition itself. By continually doing reps, you perfect your skill; instead of opposing teams, you compete with buzzer-beater deadlines and always strive to write that much better than your story the game before.
I am an Oregonian, born and raised in the city of Portland. My favorite things to do, outside of journalism, include visiting the Oregon Coast, camping, getting lost on adventures, traveling and trying new food. I attend the University of Oregon, where I'm highly involved in the University's School of Journalism and Communication and I am this year’s president of the local chapter of The Association of Women in Sports Media (AWSM). I will be graduating in June 2019 with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism.
